Two day training for the Indian Forest Service Officers was conducted on 28th and 29th November, 2013. The training was sponsored by Ministry of Environment and Forests, GOI, New Delhi. IFS officers from different cadres around the nation participated. The topic of the training was “Interventions required in sustainable management of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) and benefit sharing by the local communities”. Different issues related to NTFP were covered like role of R&D, Conservation, cultivation, Harvesting, Marketing and Benefit sharing by local communities, role of forest department, sustainable harvesting and micro finance based small & medium micro enterprise. The sessions were taken by senior IFS officers of M.P. Forest Department, professors & director, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal and scientist from ICFRE, Ranchi.
